Releasing the human story. This is what death asks of EVERY human being. For most of us, the challenge of releasing or letting go, is a hard thing to undertake. Few of us have much practice or support in the endeavor. The current, consumer driven, highly entertained culture has no place for a model of death care based on releasing the human story, letting go of the body with grace and honor. Instead, we have the medicalization of death.
Medicalization occurs when a normal life event, such as the dying process, becomes a medical intervention. This is the situation for well over 80% of death by natural causes. Is this how you want to die?
